I didn't think I was a hotel sort of person, but this hotel has converted me! It's hard to know where to begin, because my holiday there with my family was incredible in so many ways.

On arriving at the hotel, which over-looks the glorious sea (with views of Turkey in the distance, and breath-taking sunsets), we were greeted a friendly smile and someone to help us with our bags. The reception lobby is airy, clean, comfortable, and beautiful.

We (me, my husband and our two children - 9 and 11) had booked a Superior Family Suite with a sea view, and it was absolutely perfect for us. Air conditioned and spacious, with views over the pools and to the sea. And I have never slept in a more comfortable bed!!

The pools are beautiful, with a few smaller, shallower pools for lounging in, or playing with smaller children. The bar in the centre of the pool area was staffed by friendly and efficient staff (especially Andreas). The drinks were hardly a bargain, but we didn't expect it to be! Twice a day, the "Animation Team" (Romana, when we were there) came to the pool to lead an aqua-aerobics / dance session, which was generally very well received. Romana was endlessly energetic and enthusiastic. I very much enjoyed the hard work everyone was putting in from the comfort of my poolside lounger, while sipping perfectly chilled wine...

Now for the restaurant. I don't think I have a sufficiently praising word for this section. There are actually two restaurants - a fancy A La Carte restaurant (we didn't bother going to that one, but it did look amazing). The other is in a large and bright dining room with an extensive buffet ("extensive" doesn't do it justice...), where you're welcomed by Christos or one of the lovely hostesses. We had paid for both breakfast and dinner to be included with our stay, and I'm so glad we did. The quality of the food on the buffet was excellent. But in addition to the buffet (which hosted some daily favourites, as well as plenty of daily specials), there was an on-display kitchen area, where some days they would grill meats, make sushi, make gyros etc. There was another area where someone was making a seemingly endless amount of waffles and pancakes. If that wasn't enough, they also had a daily specials menu, which you could order, in addition to feasting from the buffet!

I cannot eat gluten, and my daughter is lactose-free. We'd been a bit worried about having enough to eat on holiday. I laugh thinking back to that! We needed have worried about a single thing. We make them aware of our dietary requirements, and every single day, without fail, either the Executive Chef or the phenomenal Sous Chef (Mixalis) would come to our table and ask us what we would like. He made lactose-free waffles and panna cotta, gluten-free chocolate fondant and even deep-fried ice cream. As if that wasn't enough, we had delicious meat, fish and seafood!! The buffet had labels with any allergen information, so you always felt safe eating there.

Basically, we ate our own weight (or more) in delicious food. Incredible.

Oh.... mustn't forget the team of waiters. Wow. Super-friendly, accommodating, witty, and so generous with their kind spirits. We rapidly found our absolute favourites (Vasilis, Ioanna, Petra and Eugenios ("Perfectionist")), but every single person was wonderful. They had a knack of making you feel like you were exactly who they were waiting to see (even though you know that they're like that with pretty much everyone!).

The hotel bar was really nice. Live music at 9pm every day. It was great to have a pre-dinner cocktail, with the company of the bar team, headed by Sevi (who gave us excellent tips of where to visit).

Hotel management team is great too! Customer Relations Julia was always happy to listen to ideas and feedback about the place, and was quick to respond.

If you want to leave the luxury of the hotel, there's a well-signed path that leads you past a couple of handy little shops, a bar with crazy golf, and the sea. It's a very fine shingle beach, not sand, but it's still soft underfoot. Possibly not so good for making sand castles! There is a diving school if you want to learn to snorkel or scuba. It can all be arranged via the hotel, and they even let you have a go in the hotel pool as a taster, before heading to the sea.

Other stuff: the location is fab. A short taxi ride to Rhodes Old Town, which is an absolutely must-visit. Oozing with history and stunning architecture. It does get VERY HOT, so bring water, try to find shade whenever possible, and use factor 50+, whatever your skin type! There are loads of cafes, bars, tavernas etc. And from the habour (the home of one of the wonders of the ancient world: The Rhodes Collosus - obviously, it's not actually there anymore, although I heard of plans for it to be rebuilt, which would be pretty amazing), you can go on boat trips to different islands, or round the coast of Rhodes etc.

Falaraki is about a 20 minute drive down the road. If clubbing to the early hours isn't your sort of thing, get there by about 10am. It's not too hot, the crazy kids have probably just gone to bed, and it's perfect for some watersports fun - parascending, jetski, water-ski, being whizzed around behind a very fast speedboat on an inflatable something (I watched my insane family from the cafe - can you see a recurring theme here??). There is a massive water park in Falaraki. We didn't go, but apparently, the advice is to get there as soon as it opens in the morning, before the queues and the baking sun.

Historic Lindos is home to an utterly breath-taking acropolis atop a hill. If you want to go, I recommend getting there VERY early. The coaches arrive with hundreds and hundreds of people, and before you know it, the queues are so long, you give up trying. There are donkey rides to the top, but if the queues are already long, you'll end up having to walk all the way down to join the back of the queue! There are lovely restaurants and shops most of the way up, so you can take you time and mooch.

There's a Bee Museum, a bit inland. Very cheap to get in, and although not massive, it's genuinely interesting, with perspex(?) beehives, so you could watch the bees at work. The shop sells loads of honey-based products, which you can taste before buying (my daughter recommends the orange honey, I rather liked the red wine with honey).

There is, obviously, so much to do, and we only scratched the surface. We hired a car for a few days, so we could visit other places. That was great, and you can sort that out at the hotel.

Anything negative?.... there isn't a huge amount for very young children to do in the hotel, even though Romana and the rest of the animation team did a brilliant job of optimising what there was. I can't think of anything else!

In summary: a truly 5 star hotel, offering a 5 star experience, that is made unforgettable and very very special by the wonderful people who work there. We have kept in touch with some of those we met there, and desperately hope we can return many times in the future. Thank you, Atrium Platinum!

Great 5 star , poor location in middle or nowhere. I don't feel it is quite equipped for families of young children. No proper mini disco , very old dated outdoor childrens area - equipment unsafe - hidden I a back corner and not covered from sun . 2 unstable swings and one tiny climbing frame . A tiny room allocated for kids club. The kids club entertainment people lovely especially Nora and did the best with what they had. I think its more suited to couples without kids.

Some basics like tea and coffee at each meal easily accessible by customer would be great rather than being served at breakfast only. Staff , décor and customer service is what makes this a 5 star !

Everything at the atrium palace was fine until I was given the info about the all inclusive .it needed a while to work out where you could eat and drink, it was definatley confusing as one example the only place you could get a coffee on the all inclusive was from the main bar or the buffet. At the swim up bars you were charged . The ice creams on the all inclusive were only available at the main bar between 5pm and 6pm also in the buffet . The beach bar was 100 yards from the beach and if you used this bar or the al a carte restuarant next door you were given a 30 per cent discount on drinks of food . There were no all inclusive drinks or food available on the atrium beach itself . The food at the buffet was really good but for some reason the waiting staff wouldn't let you eat outside at lunch time . The hotel was spotless and the staff lovely but the all inclusive was to confusing gary and Julie.

We just love this resort, the views are stunning at 360 degrees. We have now been to this resort four times and it takes us ages to come down from the whole experience. Every single staff is so friendly and welcoming, particularly Katerina, you just have to smile when you see her, because she has this wonderful smile. I must say that we noticed the food has improved, better! not by a lot, as it was good before! This must be down to the new chef, wonderful food, desserts are soooo nice!!!

But don't take my word for it, book and get there yourself!
